Summary
Work includes preservation and repair work associated with the historic temple property. A. Masonry Repointing Repoint failing exterior mortar joints on west and south sides in accordance with guidance from Preservation Brief #2 - Repointing Mortar Joints in Historic Masonry Buildings. Mortar composition, joint tooling, profile, color, texture, and workmanship shall be historically appropriate and compatible with existing masonry. B. Historic Wood Window Repair and Replacement Repair existing upper-floor historic wooden window frames and replace deteriorated window sashes with historically compatible replacement windows in accordance with Preservation Brief #9 - The Repair of Historic Wooden Windows. All replacement materials, profiles, dimensions, and operation shall match the historic character of the existing windows and structure. C. Masonry/Foundation Repairs Repair deteriorated base masonry stone along the west and south elevations of the building to stabilize the structure and prevent further foundation failure. Repairs shall be limited to the existing base stone areas and shall utilize methods and materials compatible with the historic structure. Contractor Requirements Bidders must demonstrate experience with historic preservation projects, including masonry restoration and/or historic window rehabilitation.
