Summary
Idaho Building Capacity Project contracts with distinguished
educators and education leaders (vendors) who are experienced and highly trained to assist local educators and leaders. These educators are called Capacity Builders (CBs) and are equipped with a toolkit of school improvement resources. In partnership with school and district leaders, CBs create and implement a customized school improvement plan to be submitted and approved by the State Department of
Education. Additionally, Capacity Builders work collaboratively
with educators to assess district and school needs and to design
and implement interventions based on educational research. This is the second year in a three-year coaching cycle, and CBs have been working with their assigned schools for the last two years. IBC is sponsored and directed by the Idaho State Department of Education. It is carried out statewide in partnership with Boise State University, Idaho State University, and the University of Idaho. Due to the unique and highly specific skill set, experience, dispositions, and acumen required to be a Capacity Builder, the IBC selection process is extremely thorough. Each capacity builder must go through an IBC
application process, providing documentation of their certifications and qualifications to be offered a contract. Vendor Tracy Ketchum has been selected due to her extensive experience and unique skillset. The IBC Regional Coordinator selects the CBs with PI approval. Additionally, IBC contracts have been offered based on the needs of the Districts IBC serves and matched with the specific and unique expertise, qualifications, and certifications of the Capacity Builder.
