Summary
Seeks to purchase a versatile, high-quality, geophysical equipment system with the ability to conduct Magnetotelluric (MT), Audio-frequency MT (AMT), and Controlled Source AMT (CSAMT) surveys with the same set of receivers and sensors – a significant cost and time savings. MT/AMT surveys are critical in geothermal resource research because electrical properties of materials and geologic layers below the ground surface directly correlate to geologic structures, fluid composition (salinity and inferred temperature), and fluid flow paths. Similarly, CSAMT surveys provide high lateral resolution imaging and are less susceptible to local electrical noise sources. This equipment will play a key part in locating, identifying, and characterizing geothermal resources in the State of Utah under Operation Gigawatt and other geothermal studies. On top of geothermal resource applications, the equipment can and will be utilized for studies focused on groundwater and mineral resources identification and development in the state of Utah.
