Summary
Work includes approx. the repair of exposed wall ties, repair of column cracks and honeycombing, repair of floor cracks, replacement of a failed membrane system at Tank #1, repair of exposed coarse aggregate in walls, repair/replacement of corroded metal equipment (valves, overflow box, stairs), and application of a new coatings system. The recommendations are intended to extend the usable life of the tanks. The South Tanks Rehabilitation Program will consist of implementing the rehabilitation recommendations identified in the report and additional upgrades as follows: Demolition and replacement of the existing 4-foot diameter by 24'-deep valve vault with a 12.5 x 7' rectangular valve vault and associated waterproofing, safety, and electrical upgrades. Installation of a new sump pump into the new valve vault. Demolition and replacement of the 18", 8", and 6" diameter piping and appurtenances around the new valve vault including an 18" and 8" butterfly valves. The piping must be tied into the existing ductile iron piping at the limits of replacement. Installation of new access hatches at Tank #1 to match Tank #2. Installation of a new level transmitter for Tank #1. Installation of electrical upgrades to solar power at Tank #2. Installation of a new float switch for backup level measurement at Tank #2. Design the abandonment of the 8" water main east of the existing valve vault.
