Description: To catalyze innovation in advanced research development (R&D), manufacturing, procurement of medical countermeasures (MCMs). These lifesaving MCMS are needed to protect people during public health emergencies from threats such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) incidents (whether accidental OR intentional), pandemic influenza, COVID-19, other emerging infectious diseases. BARDA works closely with interagency partners through the public health emergency medical countermeasures enterprise (PHEMCE) to ensure a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to MCM preparedness response.
