Summary
Work includes restoration of wetland areas through the removal and replacement of invasive species with native plants. Project includes establishing wetland drainage channels and installing nearshore oyster castle wave attenuators. The purpose of this project is to restore and enhance an existing tidal marsh to a more functioning wetland to mitigate adverse impacts on wetland structure and function, improve coastal resiliency and minimize local flooding, promote marsh migration to mitigate effects of sea level rise, enhance horseshoe crab spawning habitat, provide substrate for oyster reef generation, create more diverse habitats for wildlife, and increase water quality by reducing impacts of nutrient loading from groundwater sources.
