Missouri Department of Natural Resources
To integrate the soil moisture and temperature data into the missouri mesonet system, which continuously transmits monitoring station data to noaa and make the data publicly available. The acclima time domain reflectometry (tdr) soil-water sensors have been selected for this project because of their proven performance in soils with high clay content and smectite clay minerology, which are both common in missouri. The tdr 315n soil water content sensor, which has 15 cm long sensor rods, measures soil moisture and temperature. The acclima true tdr soil moisture sensor reader kit (sdi-12) will allow the department to install soil sensors near missouri mesonet stations to connect the sensors to the weather station data loggers.
