AvailableThe University’s primary goal is to replace the existing Edwards EST3 system with a new Edwards EST4 system that complies with the latest code editions adopted by the State of Michigan from the NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 72, NFPA 101, and the Michigan Building Code (MBC). The design should ensure backward compatibility with existing initiating and notification appliances, where applicable, while providing additional fire alarm components that adhere to code throughout all areas of the building. The design needs to include additional initiating devices and notification appliances in corridors and common areas, as well as low-frequency sounders within dorm rooms that meet life-safety code requirements.
