The 2025 Troup County Comprehensive Plan serves as a long-term strategic framework to guide the county's growth and development over the next 20 years. It aims to create a vibrant community by promoting economic development and balanced growth, protecting natural, cultural, and historic resources, and preserving its rural character while maintaining an excellent quality of life for all citizens. Key strategic pillars include building a skilled and prosperous workforce, creating connected and livable communities, leveraging natural assets and tourism potential, expanding economic opportunities and innovation, preserving rural character and managing growth, and enhancing community infrastructure and public safety.

The Troup County Comprehensive Plan serves as a roadmap for future growth and development, outlining guidance and policy standards. Its vision is to foster a vibrant community that promotes economic development and balanced growth, protects natural, cultural, and historic resources, and preserves its rural character while ensuring an excellent quality of life for all citizens. Key strategic areas include promoting home ownership and diverse housing stock, ensuring a trained workforce, maximizing economic potential from natural and cultural assets, expanding and maintaining public services, protecting and preserving historic, cultural, and natural resources, implementing sustainable land use practices, developing a multi-modal transportation system, and expanding broadband access.

The Troup County Board of Commissioners will conduct public hearings on the proposed Troup County FY 2025-2026 budget. The proposed budget document will be made available for public inspection online and at local libraries. The Board will consider adoption of the proposed budget during the regular meeting.

The strategic plan focuses on assessing local housing market conditions, identifying gaps in residential supply, and providing recommendations for improving the housing market situation within Troup County, Hogansville, LaGrange, West Point, and unincorporated portions of the county. It addresses the imbalance between jobs and households, the shortage of housing options, and the trends driving demand, such as changes in homeownership, an aging population, and the desire for new housing types. The plan sets a housing production goal for 2020-2025 and recommends encouraging the production of new for-sale and quality rental units, supporting the renovation and rehabilitation of existing housing stock, and continuing to invest in Troup's downtowns and intown areas.

The meeting included discussions and approvals regarding a bulletproof vest partnership grant, a Georgia DNR/LWCF grant for Pyne Road Park renovations, a resolution to receive and fulfill the DNR/LWCF grant, funding to reimburse legal expenses and an aviation easement, contracts for new fire alarm systems at the Troup County Government Center and 900 Dallis Street. A public hearing was held on the FY24 budget proposal, with public comments received.
