Bakersfield Elementary's Schoolwide Program Plan (2016-17) focuses on improving math and communication arts instruction across all grade levels to meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals. The plan includes implementing new reading intervention programs and teacher training, reviewing math instruction and implementing interventions, and establishing new progress monitoring and reporting systems. Data teams will be used to analyze data and improve instruction. Curriculum revisions will align with Common Core Standards, utilizing available resources and technology to provide individualized instruction. The plan also addresses professional learning communities, schoolwide positive behavior support, tiered instructional support (Response to Intervention), and additional interventions such as a new interventionist teacher for reading and math. Strategies for meeting the needs of historically underserved populations include counseling services, college and career awareness programs, and integration of vocational and technical education programs. The plan emphasizes parental involvement and the use of various assessments (Stanford 10, Study Island, ForeSight, Envision, DIBELS, STAR, Accelerated Reader, Running Record, Ato Z Learning) to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
