This strategic plan outlines the Virginia State Police's vision to ensure a safe and secure Commonwealth by fostering exceptional relationships with the public, partners, and its personnel. Its mission is to secure the Commonwealth through leadership, collaboration, and community engagement, underpinned by values of competence, innovation, trust, commitment, wellness, and leadership, and a culture of inclusion and diversity. The plan identifies four primary goals: recruiting, preparing, and retaining a competent, diverse, and resilient workforce; improving business processes for quality, service, and efficiency; implementing innovative practices; and developing exceptional relationships with partners.

The meeting addressed the sulfur dioxide non-attainment area regulation revision, specifically focusing on updating the list of non-attainment areas in the state. The discussion highlighted a new non-attainment area related to the national ambient air quality standard for sulfur dioxide, affecting a portion of Giles County due to a specific facility, Lois North America. DEQ and Lois are collaborating with the EPA to achieve compliance. The board also discussed a plan for moving ahead and attaining the standard, including a detailed inventory.
