The Marlinton Town Council held a special meeting to discuss and act upon the Town of Marlinton CDBG-MIT Storm Water Project. The council selected Steptoe & Johnson for legal services and West Virginia Infrastructure Services for right of way services. They also discussed the transfer of picnic shelter property at Stillwell to Pocahontas County Parks and Recreation, including the potential development of a dog park.

They also reviewed proposals for the Town of Marlinton CDBG-MIT Storm Water Project, including legal and right-of-way proposals, and approved the environmental review for the project. Additionally, the council discussed and approved the advertisement of requests for bids for gasoline, diesel fuel, propane gas, and heating oil. They reviewed the Municipal Home Rule Program's 2025 Annual Progress Report and discussed the Employee Health Insurance Program, considering a change in plans to address potential premium increases. Other topics included a request for a dog park, Christmas activities, and a decorating contest.

The Mon Forest Towns Partnership has adopted a five-year strategic plan focused on sustainable recreation and economic growth. The primary goal is to enhance community health through outdoor recreation activities and infrastructure improvements. The plan aims to sustain the town's economy across all seasons and increase visitor traffic over the next three to five years.

The council will consider and act upon the second reading of a proposed Bond Ordinance authorizing the issuance of bonds for waterworks and sewerage system improvements. Public hearings will be held, and the council will consider ordinances to increase rates for sewer and water services. Other agenda items include discussion and potential action on an insurance proposal, a donation request, Pioneer Days issues, and cost sharing for a river gauge.
