The DeSoto County Local Mitigation Strategy is a continuous plan designed to minimize community exposure to natural, technological, and human-caused hazards, thereby enhancing resilience and preparedness. It outlines five key goals: reducing loss of life and property, maintaining high preparedness and coordination, reducing critical facility vulnerability, protecting unique natural habitats and ecological systems, and increasing public awareness and participation in hazard preparedness and mitigation.

The Board of County Commissioners of Desoto County, Florida, ratified and confirmed the 'WHEREAS' clauses as true and correct, incorporating them into the resolution. The adopted budget for Fiscal Year 2022/2023 was amended and supplemented as provided in Budget Amendment 2023-26, 2023-27, 2023-28 and 2023-29. The budget was adjusted to complete a sidewalk project with EPI and budget the City of Arcadia revenue cost share portion. Insurance reimbursement was processed for lightening damage to the scales. An additional Administration position was budgeted. A Sheriff request for Article V transfer to Sheriff Operating account for period Oct-Dec 2022 was processed.
