The Red River Parish Local Literacy Plan focuses on ensuring all students become fluent and proficient readers. It aims to provide inclusive and equitable instruction to develop effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Key goals include students reaching mastery in reading by the end of 8th grade, teachers demonstrating effective teaching practices using the prescribed Reading Curriculum, and implementing a comprehensive Literacy Program with tiered interventions and ongoing teacher support.

The board meeting included a finance committee report, which recommended payment of bills and received the Monthly Report for all Major Funds from the Business Manager. The board approved the agenda and the consent agenda. An extension of the Superintendent's contract was approved, and the board received the Red River Parish Head Start Update and Monthly Fiscal Report, as well as a Personnel Report with resignations, retirements, and new hires.

The Building & Grounds Committee recommended approving the Red River Parish Fair Board's request to use the parking lot at Red River Elementary for the Parish Fair. They further approved moving the June board meeting to an earlier date and discussed the date for the July meeting. The strategic plan of the Red River Parish Early Childhood Community Network focuses on increasing community awareness of early childcare to enhance funding and resources, with strategies including developing a network website and utilizing social media. It aims to increase three-year-old enrollment by 2% for the 2021-2022 school year through the addition of new classrooms and seats. Additionally, the plan targets a 5% increase in the number of birth to three-year-olds served by the year 2024-2025, through informational campaigns, collaboration with Early Head Start, and pursuit of funding opportunities.
