This Long-Range Program Plan for the Division of Administrative Hearings outlines its mission to provide a uniform and impartial forum for the trial and resolution of disputes between private citizens, organizations, and state agencies, and to maintain a statewide mediation and adjudication system for workers' compensation claims. The primary goal is to improve the statewide adjudication and mediation processes, focusing on two main programs: Adjudication of Disputes and Workers' Compensation Appeals. The plan emphasizes enhancing electronic filing applications and website functionality to achieve more efficient and timely resolution of cases and petitions.
This Long-Range Program Plan for the Division of Administrative Hearings outlines its strategic direction and operational goals for the fiscal years 2008-2009 through 2012-2013. The plan focuses on two core programs: Adjudication of Disputes and Workers' Compensation Appeals, both considered top priorities. A key objective is to improve statewide adjudication and mediation processes, specifically by increasing the percentage of administrative law cases closed within 120 days and workers' compensation petitions closed within statutory timeframes, thereby ensuring efficient and impartial dispute resolution.
The Statewide Nominating Commission for Judges of Compensation Claims (SNCJCC) will interview judges for reappointment and prospective applicants for nomination as Judge of Compensation Claims for the Miami (MIA) and Tampa (TPA) districts, in anticipation of retirements. The Commission will also discuss procedural issues for the upcoming meeting. Opposition to reappointment of judges or nomination of applicants must be submitted in writing by August 6th, 2012. There is also a vacancy for a Commission-appointed Commissioner residing in the geographic area of the Fifth District Court of Appeals.
The Statewide Judicial Nominating Commission meeting will include reappointment interviews for several judges and candidate interviews for open positions in Lakeland, West Palm Beach, and Miami. The agenda also includes a time-certain interview with Judge Castiello, commissioner appointments, discussion of the next meeting, and re-adoption of commission guidelines.
