The commission reviewed and approved several applications for property modifications, including painting window frames and doors, landscape updates to a memorial garden, installation of a shed and fencing replacement, repair of siding and windows, and replacement of deck and exterior paint. One application to replace a roof and coping cap was denied due to the failure to preserve a significant architectural feature of the building. The commission also received updates regarding city green space upgrades, staff transitions, and administrative procedural requirements for project consultations, and discussed the regulation of portable solar panels.

The council conducted public hearings and readings for several ordinances concerning downtown parking, site plan reviews, zoning appeals, conditional use standards, administrative enforcement, and permit fee schedules. Key resolutions approved included retiring water and environmental debt for the Town of Renick, authorizing investments in the state consolidated fund, and revising the general fund budget. Proclamations were issued for National Police Week. Additionally, the council approved various engineering and legal service contracts for water projects, authorized transfers to newly created capital funds for the fire and police departments, approved a pay rate increase for a parks department employee, and renewed maintenance agreements for computer systems.

The committee discussed several financial and administrative items, including the approval of a water system improvement pay request and the proposal to update the city's parking ordinance. Significant attention was given to a downtown parking project involving the installation of cameras and signage to regulate parking duration. Furthermore, the committee approved funding for an annual employee picnic, authorized an employee day off, and adopted a new penny policy. The audit report for the 2025 fiscal year was accepted, and members addressed upcoming needs for water rate increases and potential fee waivers for a local development project.

The council also approved several planning applications, including two lot line adjustments, and authorized a human resources consulting contract and a memorandum of understanding with the Cyber-Resilience Resource Center of WVU. Additionally, the council approved the city's permitting fees update, the Coal Severance Fund Budget, and the General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2027, which includes funding for capital improvements such as downtown infrastructure and park updates.
