The promotion ceremony for the Westview Hills Middle School class of 2026 celebrated student accomplishments, featured student reflections on their time in the district, and included an awards presentation recognizing academic achievement, citizenship, and attendance. The event also highlighted encouraging themes of looking back on past experiences and looking ahead to the future in high school, with speeches from student representatives, the superintendent, and a member of the Board of Education.

The board recognized several students for their achievements in the future problem solvers program and national awards in the reflections program. Additionally, the PTA president was recognized for her new leadership role in the Illinois State PTA. The meeting included a presentation on the dual language program, detailing its history, instructional design, bi-literacy frameworks, and plans for future expansion, as well as an update on the multilingual advisory committee's work in increasing communication and family engagement.

The board meeting primarily focused on a protest by parents regarding a change in the dual language sibling grandfathering policy, which limits guaranteed sibling spots and introduces a potential lottery system. Parents argued that the change breaches trust, as they had planned their long-term educational commitments based on prior guarantees of sibling placement. The board also recognized the Westview Hills chess team for winning the state championship at the eighth-grade level.
