The strategic plan for the Town of Bennett outlines a multi-year vision focused on fostering growth, innovation, and community connection. Key strategic pillars include advancing economic vitality through business recruitment, retention, and strategic development, particularly with the 'Upper-Tunity' initiative and the Town Center project. The plan also prioritizes enhancing municipal services and staff efficiency through process improvements, and ensuring public safety and mobility via significant transportation infrastructure upgrades and traffic enforcement. Furthermore, it emphasizes critical investments in community infrastructure projects such as the Civic Center Park and Wastewater Reclamation Facility expansion, alongside a commitment to financial planning and transparent communication.

The board discussed and took action on several items, including the implementation of mandatory water restrictions, the selection of a replacement auditor for the 2025 financial audit, and the authorization of Sales Tax Revenue Bonds for infrastructure improvements. Other key topics included awarding a paving contract for 8th Street, approving the purchase of electric grounds maintenance equipment, and increasing the General Fund commitment for the upcoming Bennett Days events.

The Commission addressed the rezoning of four town-owned parcels from Planned Development (PD) to Public (P) with a Main Street (MS) overlay district to align with the Town Center Concept Plan and provide for mixed-use developments, including affordable housing. A June 2026 project update was presented, detailing the status of various residential, commercial, and infrastructure development projects throughout the town, including road construction, park development, and ongoing comprehensive planning initiatives.

The board issued a proclamation honoring several departing members for their public service. A resolution denying the first amendment to the service plan for the Kiowa Creek Metropolitan District Nos. 1-3 was approved. The board administered the oath of office to newly elected trustees, selected a new Mayor Pro Tem, and appointed various town officials. Additionally, the board established committee assignments for several regional and local organizations and received a report from the Town Manager regarding road enforcement and upcoming events.

The meeting includes reports from the Town Manager, as well as comments and reports from the Mayor and Trustees. A significant portion of the session involves an executive session conducted for the purpose of developing strategy, determining positions, and receiving legal advice regarding pending litigation between the Town and the Adams County Sheriff. Subsequently, the board will return to an open meeting to report on the executive session and address possible action regarding the aforementioned litigation.
