The Fannin County Lake Economic Development Committee convened to discuss matters related to the economic development of the county lake area during their May meeting.

The committee discussed the status of the Bois d’Arc Lake Future Land Use Map, noting that recent amendments focused on the US82 corridor. It was clarified that future zoning designations for other areas remain pending until further development details are finalized. Additionally, the committee explored potential amenities for a proposed 50-acre park at the north 1396 boat ramp, confirming that North Texas Municipal Water District is open to the project. The discussion also addressed a contested sewage treatment plan application related to a nearby subdivision development.

The commission held a public hearing and meeting to address zoning applications, specifically recommending a change from Agricultural and Ranching District to Rural Estate Single-Family District to the Commissioners Court. Discussions included the status of the comprehensive plan, interlocal agreements with Dodd City, and water commitment requirements for subdivisions. Additionally, the commission explored the development of a public campground, considering land offers from the North Texas Municipal Water District and potential funding or volunteer strategies, and scheduled the next meeting date.
