This document, the Alabama Dyslexia Resource Guide, aims to inform and assist educators, administrators, and parents in providing and monitoring dyslexia-specific services and support for students in Alabama's public schools. The guide's objective is to improve educational outcomes for all students by ensuring effective services and support for individuals with dyslexia.

The 2022-23 Title I School-wide Diagnostic for ACIP for Saraland Elementary School provides a comprehensive assessment of the institution's needs and outlines strategies for continuous improvement. The primary focus areas identified are enhancing student performance in mathematics and reading across all grade levels, and improving school attendance. The plan emphasizes increasing instructional rigor, utilizing targeted professional development, and implementing various academic support programs. It also addresses the needs of all student populations, including those at risk and with special needs, and highlights the importance of parent and family engagement, as well as coordination of federal, state, and local resources to achieve its goals.

This plan outlines the Saraland City School System's commitment to providing free and appropriate public education to homeless children and youth. Its core objectives include ensuring equal access to academic and support services, facilitating immediate enrollment without documentation barriers, and providing stable school environments including transportation to the school of origin. Key procedures involve proactive identification, a comprehensive registration process with a Residency Questionnaire, and coordinated efforts by a Central Office Homeless Liaison. The plan also addresses expedited access to meals, identification of homeless preschoolers, and fair school placement decisions with a robust dispute resolution process, all aimed at fostering academic success.

The Board discussed and approved several action items including the financial report and bank reconciliation, personnel actions, the 2024-25 salary schedule, the early implementation of a state-enacted pay raise, budget amendment 2 for FY24, and a revision to the 2024-25 meal prices. Additionally, the superintendent provided an update on high school construction progress, and the 2024-25 student parent handbook was presented as an information item.

The Board approved the agenda, financial reports, personnel actions, and various travel and service agreements, including a two-year health science clinical agreement with Springhill Medical Center and a behavioral services agreement. Construction and procurement projects for the high school stadium, specifically bleachers and a concrete pad, were authorized. The Board also designated a high school for participation in the VA Education Benefit Program, held elections for an AASB District Director, selected a delegate for the upcoming assembly, and entered an executive session for legal advice.
