This Recreation Plan outlines the vision and guidelines for developing recreation activities, programs, and facilities within the City of Iron Mountain. The plan focuses on three strategic goals: maximizing the potential of existing resources, providing diverse recreation opportunities for all residents and visitors, and enhancing the artistic, cultural, historic, and natural characteristics of the area through facility development. Key initiatives include trail development, facility upgrades, and the addition of new park amenities, informed by community input.

The City Council discussed the upcoming 2013-2014 Fiscal Year Budget.

The council discussed curb-side recycling, the City Park Deer Pen, and a vacation request for a portion of Milliman St. right-of-way. They also considered awarding a paving bid, approving a legal services agreement and a professional services agreement for sewer work, and approving a payment application for lead service line replacements. Additionally, they discussed a proposed rezoning request, a street closure request for Run Iron Mountain, and financial reports. The City Manager reported on the lead service line replacement project, Oktoberfest, the DWSRF project, and the City Park Deer Pen. A moment of silence was held for the 9/11 victims, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and the victims of school shootings.

The meeting included public comments from members of the DDA, who thanked the city for their cooperation on Italian Fest and for a donation of parking lot landscaping. The council opened bids for the Water Tank Roof, with a request for the Infrastructure Committee to review the results. They approved a salary increase for the Part-time Assessor and a payment to James Peterson Sons Inc. for work on the West B Street Lift Station and East A Street.

The council discussed a request to close the alley adjacent to the shared lot line of 407 and 415 S. Stephenson Avenue to through traffic. They also discussed recreational marijuana and directed the city attorney to draft an ordinance to allow and zone recreational marijuana. The council authorized the repair of the City's 2005 Volvo front-end loader, approved a contribution to the Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance, and appointed David Hendrickson to the Downtown Development Authority. They also approved the use of City Park trails for Kingsford High School cross country meets and authorized the solicitation of bids for winter street sand. The City Manager was authorized to attend a meeting in Marquette, Michigan. Updates were provided on the Code Enforcement Officer position, medical marihuana license applications, and improvements at Stanton St. Park.
