The City Council meeting included a presentation of a donation towards bullet proof vests. The council discussed the Fire Opt Out Fee on utility bills and voted to continue the fee pending legal review. An update was given on the SKID Grant for the VFD. Concerns were raised about the railroad blocking city streets, and a meeting with a railroad representative was scheduled. The council discussed the Safe Routes to School Application. The council addressed concerns about water safety and reporting violations, requesting answers to specific questions at the next meeting. The appointment of new board members was tabled until after the May 6, 2017 election. The purchase of mosquito chemical was approved. Updates were provided on police grants and vehicle maintenance. A solution was suggested for low water pressure issues, and the council reviewed enforcement action letters from TCEQ. Bids for maintenance and repair of elevated water storage tanks were reviewed and accepted. Poison Prevention Week was proclaimed. The council also discussed the appointment of election judges and the status of the water/sewer antenna.

The City Council meeting included discussions and actions on various topics. These included a water leak adjustment for a resident, approval of a resolution for an inter-local contract with the East Texas Council of Governments for 911 Addressing, and decisions regarding city hall improvements, such as striping the parking lot and replacing windows. The council also addressed the city park's basketball court fence, the creation of a code enforcement officer position, renewal of the Code Red Emergency Warning Contract, and a review of the 2016 Racial Profile Report. Additionally, the council approved the purchase and funding of air monitoring equipment for the VFD, discussed water/sewer issues, and adopted ordinances related to the regular council meeting day and time, as well as the creation of a City Administrator position. They also discussed a part-time receptionist/office assistant position, approved the Public Works Director job description, and approved the city's membership with the Texas Municipal League.

The meeting included discussion regarding a survey of property bordering the Business Park and the development of lots/access to utilities at Corporate Drive. The hay lease was offered to Reginald Frost for $300. ETEX was hired to create a splash page for the Welcome Center internet.

The City Council meeting included discussions and actions on several key items. These included an addendum to the agreement with Amazing Grants for the City's TCF/Downtown Revitalization Grant, community center use by the Big Sandy Lions Club, bids for a dumpster enclosure at City Park, mosquito control measures, and updates from the Police and Volunteer Fire Departments. The council also discussed a TCEQ enforcement action letter, the purchase of a blower for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, financing for painting and repairs on water tanks, and a water/sewer tap application. Additionally, the council entered into an Executive Session to discuss personnel matters, including the resignation of Jessica Garmon and the reappointment of the Municipal Attorney and Judge.

The City Council discussed and took action on several items, including the exterior design and logo for elevated water storage tanks, contracting for ballots and setting the location for the May 6th, 2017 election, and approving the purchase of a Star Witness Field Interviewer camera system for the police department.
