The strategic plan for Machias aims to encourage and support growth and economic development that is compatible with the community's character and does not adversely impact its resources. Key areas of consideration include the town's location, historic and archaeological resources, natural resources, and public facilities.

The meeting included an executive session regarding the employment of a school official.

The meeting included discussions and actions on various topics. The board approved municipal and school warrants. They also voted to appoint EMTs to the Machias Ambulance Service. The board discussed adjusting town office hours for July due to staff absence and workload. The hiring of a Transfer Station Manager was addressed, along with the closure of the Bay Area Transfer Station on specific dates. An appointment was made to the Machias Planning Board. Other business included updates on municipal tech issues, the use of Zoom meetings, and the development of annual goals. A special entertainment permit was approved for American Legion Post #9. Updates were provided on fire hydrant replacements, a parade route adjustment request, a concert series at Bad Little Falls Park, and progress on the comprehensive plan.

The meeting included nominations for Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board. The Board decided to cancel the June 23rd meeting and hold a meeting on June 30th. It was the consensus of the Board to continue to hold Board meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 6:00 PM. Appointments were made for Interim Town Manager, Welfare Director, Airport Manager, Road Commissioner, Harbor Master, Tax Collector, Treasurer, Certified Tax Assessor, Airport Committee members, and Certified Plumbing Inspector. Board members were reminded to sign municipal and school warrants weekly, with the Treasurer present to witness signatures. The members of the Board were asked to think about updating the town resolution.

The meeting agenda includes reviewing 2020 data on population, housing, economy, and transportation. Public participation methods will be reviewed, and plans will be made for a public participation event, review of initial chapter drafts, and launch of a public opinion survey.
