The Commission discussed several initiatives, including the I-80 Bicentennial Sculpture project, a Grave Marker Dedication ceremony, and the importance of integrating First People's history into the 250th celebration. A slate of eight events was approved for inclusion in the calendar and on the website. The Commission established a new subcommittee to review and approve event submissions more frequently, given the anticipated volume of planned activities. Updates were provided on the Chairman's recent activities, including financial status, design proposals for a time capsule, public service announcements, and Nebraska Association of County Officials regional meetings. The Community Relations and Social Media committee reported on website functionality, social media account launches, and promotional strategies. The Education committee updated members on national programs, including the My America national quilt program and various student artwork and civics challenges.

The Commission held an election for the position of Commission Chair. Discussions focused on the implementation of new legislation regarding nominee criteria, specifically the removal of the 35-year deceased requirement and the upcoming opportunity to nominate a living individual. The Commission reviewed current Hall of Fame nominations and set the schedule for the next commission meeting. Additionally, financial aspects regarding the funding of a special living nominee through private donations were addressed, and an opportunity for public questions and comments was provided.

The commission reviewed the status of a bust sculpture and the current fund balance. Discussions included updates on the plaque procurement and the necessity for correcting the induction year. The commission also coordinated the details for an upcoming dedication event, including musical performances, public relations efforts, and potential streaming options, alongside planning for a reception and the printing of the event program.

The board discussed the appointment of a representative to the Nebraska State Historic Preservation Board, received committee reports on draft bylaws and membership categories, and engaged in legislative proposals for the upcoming session. Furthermore, the board reviewed the Heritage Heroes program, heard a grant and strategic update from the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation, and received a director's report covering financial overviews, ongoing hiring, exhibit planning, and legislative tracking. The session concluded with an update on the 2026 meeting schedule and other business including reflections on the Capitol Gift Shop.
