The board retreat included an executive session where the Trustees reviewed the performance of the chancellor. The board members reviewed their 2020-21 goals, board assignments, representation, recruitment of new trustees and EDI training, and began to draft their goals for the 2021-22 academic year. Members of the Executive Team joined the Trustees for lunch and engaged in conversation on topics including transitions and introductions of new members, pursuit of mission, countywide collaborations and marketing, post COVID lessons and opportunities, and fiscal outcomes. The trustees identified and began to draft goals for the 2021-22 academic year.

The board meeting addressed the continuance in tenure process for faculty members. The Board of Trustees reviewed recommendations from tenure review committees and the administration, focusing on the probationary status of faculty. The board resolved to grant continuance of tenure probationary status to Ms. Jennifer Wright, an Assistant Professor/Faculty Counselor, moving her from first-year probationary to second-year probationary status.

The board meeting included reports from the Associated Students of Pierce College District, PCFT, and WPEA, covering student activities, faculty negotiations, and classified staff concerns. The Chancellor provided her final report, reflecting on her career and encouraging continued dedication to Pierce College's mission. The board approved the Pierce College Operating Budget and the Board of Trustees Meeting Calendar for 2023. They also announced the selection of Dr. Julie A. Manley White as the new Chancellor and CEO, expressing unanimous support and confidence in her leadership.

The Board of Trustees of Pierce College approved the 2024-2025 Student Technology Fee operating budget. The budget reflects input from students and employees, was reviewed by the Pierce College Student Technology Fee Budget Committee, and includes a report on the Student Technology Fee's reserve balances. The approved budget includes operating expenses and one-time spending, totaling $1,052,458.47.

The board meeting included reports from ASPCFS, PCFT, and WPEA, covering topics such as racial justice conversations, concerns over CARES money access, security issues, and staff adjustments to ctcLink. The Chancellor's Report addressed the impact of COVID-19, budget reductions, capital improvements, and commitment to addressing racial injustice. Board actions included approving the fee schedule for 2020-2021, continuing expenditure authorization, faculty retirements, and resolutions supporting Black Lives Matter and denouncing anti-Asian discrimination. There were also reports on nursing programs and the Hospital Employee Education and Training Grant.
