The Planning Commission held a public hearing regarding a Special Use Permit request from Consumers Energy to construct a natural gas regulator facility. A vote on the permit was tabled pending the submission of additional information by the applicant, including detailed site and landscape plans, noise and safety studies, and fire department requirements. Additionally, the commission reviewed and moved to forward the draft Alaiedon Township Master Plan to the Board of Trustees for distribution and discussed an upcoming comprehensive zoning ordinance update.

The meeting featured a presentation and discussion on the ongoing update of the Alaiedon Township Master Plan, including reviews of survey results, vision, values, goals, objectives, and implementation ideas. Key discussion topics included potential zoning changes, accessory dwelling units, housing attainability, agricultural support, and community engagement strategies. Additionally, the commission received updates regarding a proposed moratorium on data centers, high-power line proposals, and the referral of dwelling set-back ordinance reviews.

It articulates a vision for the township as the 'hill land for excellent living,' emphasizing values such as preserving a rural and agricultural lifestyle, promoting attainable living, fostering neighborliness, and ensuring stewardship.
