Board meetings and strategic plans from Nyha Merritt's organization
The meeting included discussions on law enforcement activities, building permits, and reports from various committees such as GVMC, GGTC, Rockford Area Community Endowment Foundation, Courtland Township Park & Trails, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Planning Commission. The board approved an employee stipend proposal and authorized the Supervisor to sign the Fire Commission Contract. There was also a discussion regarding potential sewer connections on the north side of Myers Lake Rd, south of 12-mile rd.
The committee discussed several topics, including updates on the soccer fields, which are growing and planned to open in the fall, and the Annis Fish Hatchery Preserve, where a bid for the Artesian Well will be brought to the board for a vote. At Davis Family Nature Park, discussions included the parking lot, the installation of a park sign, and a proposal to change the name to Davis Family Nature Preserve. Additionally, the remaining benches need assembly, and a cemetery clean-up was conducted with plans for another in the fall.
The Courtland Township Master Plan focuses on land use and development for the next 20 years. The plan addresses key aspects of land use planning, including demographics, natural features, community facilities and services, utilities and infrastructure, community engagement, goals and objectives, and land use. It aims to guide Township officials in making informed development-related decisions, protect natural resources, and maintain a high standard of living for residents.
The Zoning Board of Appeals meeting addressed a variance request from Charles & Kelly Saur for their property at 7460 Hessler Dr., concerning front and side yard setbacks. The board also discussed and approved an amendment to the previously approved plan for Petersen's properties at 8887 and 8893 Je Ne Be Dr., allowing for the construction of a shared stairway to the lake. A report on the Township Board's decision to reject a proposal for speed signs on Camelot Ct. due to insufficient support and a budget amendment request for the parks was also given.
