The board conducted an executive session to discuss the status and strategy regarding the litigation involving Suzanne LaJaunie, et al. v. Lafayette Parish School Board, et al. Counsel updated the board on settlement negotiations, indicating that the parties could not reach an agreement regarding the proposed terms and conditions. As a result, the settlement negotiations were deemed unsuccessful, and the matter will proceed to court.

The committee discussed the Gallagher Report regarding a Wellness Market Scan, which evaluated four potential vendors for a holistic wellness program. The presentation provided a side-by-side analysis, pricing estimates, and considerations for onsite biometric screenings and flu shots. The committee authorized a review process for the superintendent and Insurance Department to select the top two vendors for best and final offers, with a goal to implement the program for active members and non-Medicare retirees.
