The Mower County Comprehensive Plan 2045 provides a vision and roadmap for the future development and growth of Mower County, Minnesota, developed in partnership with the City of Austin. This plan aims to guide decision-making, promote sustainable development, and enhance the quality of life for all residents. Key strategic areas addressed include sustainable growth, quality of life enhancement, economic development with a focus on agriculture, preservation of natural resources and agricultural lands, improvement of infrastructure and services, and fostering community engagement. The overarching vision is to build a prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive community that honors its agricultural heritage while embracing future opportunities.

This Comprehensive Plan for Mower County outlines a roadmap for the county's future viability and sustainable development. It focuses on several key themes including agricultural land preservation, environmental protection, maintaining urban and rural balance, optimizing public services and infrastructure, and strengthening intergovernmental cooperation. The plan aims to achieve desired outcomes through collaborative efforts, promoting sustainable practices, and strategic management of resources.

The Mower County Solid Waste Management Plan outlines strategies for managing solid waste from 2023 to 2033. It aims to maximize solid waste abatement and reduce reliance on landfilling through various initiatives. Key areas of focus include waste reduction and reuse, public education, comprehensive recycling programs, and the proper management of yard waste, organic materials, waste tires, electronic products, major appliances, automotive fluids, and household hazardous waste. The plan targets reducing overall landfilling to 43 percent of waste generated by 2031.

The Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is a five-year roadmap for the Mower County Community Health Board and its partners. Developed collaboratively based on community input and identified health priorities, the plan aims to strategically address these priorities and reduce barriers to health within Mower County, working towards a healthier and stronger future.

The Mower County Board of Commissioners held its annual meeting, during which they nominated and selected the Board Chair and Vice-Chair. They discussed and modified proposed committee appointments for future approval. An oath of office was administered to the Emergency Management Director and Deputy Director. The board also discussed meal and mileage reimbursement rates, the 2023 calendar of scheduled board meetings, and the County Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting. They approved out-of-state travel for Sheriff staff and accepted the Greater MN Recycling and Composting Grant. Various resolutions were passed, addressing general fund allocations, AMC delegates, incidental expenses, designation of the legal newspaper, depositories, and the appointment of a Health Officer.
