The Forrest County School District's 2015-2016 IDEA Part B and Preschool Application reviews the performance data from the State Performance Plan (SPP)/Annual Performance Report (APR) for Federal Fiscal Year 2013. Areas of success include meeting targets in several indicators related to Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), disproportionate representation, Child Find, and effective transition. Areas needing improvement include graduation rates, assessment performance, preschool placement, and post-school outcomes. To address these areas, the district plans to conduct professional development, partner with early childhood organizations, collaborate with the District Office of Curriculum and Instruction, and provide targeted technical assistance to special education teachers, focusing on improving reading skills over the next three to five years.
