Board meetings and strategic plans from Mike Schroeder's organization
The SOCAA Board unanimously approved two measures during its Regular Meeting concerning facility improvements at the Sedona Airport. The first item directs the measurement of the current runway pavement strength and condition to determine requirements for handling larger jets, enabling design and funding acquisition for future work before the runway's design life ends in 2030. The second measure approved initiation of the $173,000 design phase for a fire suppression water storage tank and pump system, which will increase water capacity substantially and support planned aviation and non-aviation development.
The meeting included the election of officers for 2026. The board also discussed filling two vacancies on the SOCAA Board, a proposal to form a Foundation to accept and disperse donations, and Minimum Standards for Commercial Aeronautical Activities at Sedona Airport. Additionally, the board addressed the renewal of property insurance coverage, a cash flow projection, and a Multi-View engagement for the 2026 Campaign. A suggestion was made to amend SOCAA's Bylaws to create a non-voting, vendor Board member.
The Special Committee convened to review the current Master Lease with Yavapai County. The purpose was to make recommendations to the SOCAA Board regarding corrections, changes, and the number of years to propose for extending the lease. The committee entered an Executive Session to review the terms of the current Master Lease and discuss proposed changes, with no action taken after returning to open session.
