The meeting addressed the division of the Foreign Fire Relief Tax payment among three fire companies and a request from Oley Fire Company for a letter of grant support for a new utility vehicle. The Pike Township Board of Supervisors held a Budget Workshop Meeting to discuss the preparation of the 2026 preliminary budget. Proposed road projects for 2026 were reviewed, including double coat chip seal options for Hartline Road and Lutz Road, with additional options for Mountain Mary Road, Keim Road, Shade Road, and Old Boyer Road. Future equipment needs were also discussed, including a grader, boom mower, and broom attachment for a tractor.
The meeting addressed several key areas including the treasurer's report, secretary's report, and reports from the solicitor, code and sewage enforcement officers, and township engineer. The Roadmaster's report included discussion and action on the Marburger Road Bridge, Old Boyer Road and Deysher Road, and the purchase of a new truck. The board also reviewed and approved the Request for Proposals (RFP) and authorized its public advertisement. Additionally, a request to close Hess Road for a local event was granted.
The board discussed the Eastern Berks Fire Department financial and activity reports, and the Bally Community Ambulance Association EMS Report. They reviewed the Code and Sewage Enforcement Officers' Report and the Building and Zoning Activity Report for July 2025. The board approved the Stormwater Controls and BMP Operations and Maintenance Agreement between Howard Peter Greene, Jr., Elvira Greene, and Pike Township. The Lutz Road culvert design was approved. The board authorized the Township Solicitor to compose the Request for Bids for the sale of Drumheller's School building and to advertise the Request for Bids for a two-month period. The board discussed the selection of a new solicitor for the Pike Township Zoning Hearing Board. The board denied the Breakthrough Bike Challenge event approval pending route change, due to the storm damaged condition of Mine Road. Acoustic Modifications for the conference room will be consulted with Watkins Architect.
