The meeting was held to facilitate new board member training and onboarding. The session covered core areas of district operations, including business, human resources, curriculum, and special education, to provide the new board member with an understanding of board-level oversight and governance.

The committee conducted a review and discussion of the PRESS PLUS Issue 117 policies. Determinations were made regarding specific policies for a first reading, consent agenda approval, referral to legal counsel, and further administrative team review.

The Board discussed various financial reports including second-quarter results and five-year projections for 2026-2030. The Superintendent provided school updates on student growth data, inclement weather policies, and e-learning readiness. Additional agenda items included the Board-Superintendent relations self-assessment, the replacement of exterior window sealant at an elementary school, and the review of the upcoming school calendar. Proposed initiatives for future consideration include a new literacy curriculum, the replacement of phone system lines, and specialized professional development for the LASSO program. The Board awarded a bid for summer facility improvements and approved the purchase of HVAC equipment for district schools.

The board meeting included updates from the PTO regarding school events, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment. Students presented on the implementation and impact of a new math curriculum. A community member raised concerns regarding the potential impact of national policies on immigrant students. The Superintendent reported on school updates and a security breach at PowerSchool. The board approved a resolution supporting the Illinois Vision 2030, renewed the Doolittle Farmland lease with an increased donation, and authorized a memorandum of understanding concerning teacher preparation time. Additionally, the board reviewed upcoming calendar dates and discussed future projects, including exterior window sealant for Martin Elementary School.

The meeting included a PTO report on school initiatives and a retiree recognition ceremony. Students presented a project on historical topics. A Truth in Taxation hearing was conducted regarding the 2024 tax levy. The board received financial and committee reports, including a summary of the IASB Joint Conference focused on Artificial Intelligence and community engagement. Actions taken included the adoption of the final aggregate tax levy for 2024, the approval of a cardiac emergency response plan, and the purchase of a supplemental digital curriculum license for special education.
