The council meeting included a presentation by the Landfill Engineer regarding the condition of the landfill, the need for slope addition to the garbage cell, and the necessity to stockpile dirt for winter cover. The council discussed canceling the lease with Spectrum for a building near the water tank. There were discussions about the enforcement of City Ordinances and the condition of the demo cell at the landfill. The council approved draws for the Trafton Force Main SRF Loan and the addition of two generators to the Water Tank Project. Finally, the council approved moving the October 14th Council Meeting to October 10th due to the Montana League of Cities & Towns Convention.

The council discussed several topics including active participation in Bear Paw Economic Development, a Memorandum of Understanding between Phillips County and the City of Malta for the use of designated office space, an amended subdivision plat, an audit contract, and a Great West Engineering Task Order Amendment for the Water Tank Project.

The special meeting included a public hearing to discuss Resolution 1382, which sets the mills to be levied for 2025/2026, and the 2025/2026 budget. The council then adopted Resolution 1382 and approved the 2025/2026 budget.

The Malta City Council held a budget work meeting to discuss the proposed General Fund Budget presented by Mayor Demarais. Clerk Bond reviewed the budget with the council. Additionally, Mayor Demarais informed the Council about an upcoming Water Tank Project and Emerging Contaminants phone conference.

The Malta City Council meeting included discussions on finding grants for a new siren, reports from the Public Works Director on a dig on 1st Avenue West, the arrival of a new jetter, and city crew activities. The council made an emergency appointment of a new City Judge. The council discussed proposed new landfill rates and received the City Audit ending on June 30, 2021, and June 30, 2022, along with July financials. The council agreed to waive fees for the Event Center for a Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk and for the City Hall Gymnasium for a Christmas Carnival. They also allowed the Malta Gardeners Group to hold the Spring Farmers Market in Trafton Park. Resolution 1376, affirming active participation in the Bear Paw Economic Development District, was tabled until the next Council Meeting. Phillips County Motor Sports presented the current plat of the MBID property, which led to a discussion about the new plat and future plans for the property.
