The strategic plan for the City of Milton Fire Department focuses on maintaining professional and efficient fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, and public education. Key areas of focus include consistently meeting nationally recognized deployment standards for emergency response, maintaining low fire insurance rates, sustaining a reliable fleet of fire apparatus and equipment, and ensuring staff proficiencies. The plan also addresses challenges such as employee recruitment, succession staffing, customer service, regulation compliance, equipment maintenance, and managing growth in demand for services. Goals include improving non-emergency functions through a new Fire Marshal/Training Officer position and developing a multi-functional training facility.

The housing element focuses on ensuring an adequate supply of safe and affordable housing for current and future residents, reducing substandard housing units, and guiding the provision of low- and moderate-income housing. Key strategies include regular housing reviews, utilization of subsidy programs, enforcement of fair housing ordinances, and support for housing rehabilitation and reconstruction programs. Key goals include coordinating with adjacent municipalities and governmental agencies to promote efficient service delivery and reduce land development conflicts, coordinating with the Santa Rosa County School Board, improving building permit procedures, monitoring land use decisions, and coordinating with state and federal agencies on land use approvals and permits. The element also addresses public school coordination, water supply planning, and disaster planning.
