Public Health provided information regarding a Measles vaccination clinic, immunization appointment availability, and updated digital resources for Measles information. UCPS is collaborating with the Health Department to inform staff and administration on requirements for proof of Measles immunity. Ongoing goals for community collaboration on substance use issues and strengthening mental health support for the student population, including the expansion of teletherapy and crisis response, were also discussed.

The committee discussed the purchase of a bus surveillance system to replace failing units currently in use, noting the vendor has a reliable track record and the purchase is within the state budget. The meeting also included a Microsoft license renewal to support the technology portfolio, with the addition of PowerBI licenses. The committee recommended the 2027-2028 academic calendar to the full board, specifically choosing an option that includes a full week for Thanksgiving and avoids exam conflicts with Memorial Day. Finally, the committee reviewed an update on a teacher laptop RFP, recommending a delay in the procurement process to wait for market stabilization regarding component costs for computers.

The board meeting included the presentation of the John H. Crowder Service Award to a high school senior and the recognition of two staff members as UCPS influencers. The public comment portion of the meeting featured testimony regarding concerns about the exclusion of students from the Special Olympics, personal advocacy and concerns regarding professional conduct, and student-led presentations highlighting the impact of teacher shortages, the need for competitive pay for educators, and concerns regarding public school funding.
