The Colby Plan outlines the institution's mission to provide a broad liberal arts education, aiming to prepare students for life and specialized professions by enabling them to fulfill their unique potential as critical, imaginative, and compassionate thinkers. The plan articulates ten educational precepts focused on developing critical thinking, communication, and independent work; fostering knowledge of American and other cultures, diversity, and values; exploring arts, literature, scientific disciplines, and quantitative analysis; encouraging in-depth disciplinary study; and instilling a sense of responsibility to contribute to society.
