Board meetings and strategic plans from Kurt Schoen's organization
The Town of Rib Mountain's Comprehensive Plan guides the future growth, development, and enhancement of the town over the next 10 to 20 years. The plan aims to foster a safe, affordable community that enjoys a high quality of life through a unique convergence of quality, balanced commerce and attractive, distinct natural recreational opportunities. Key elements include land use, housing and neighborhood development, economic development, transportation, community facilities, protection of natural resources, and intergovernmental cooperation.
The Village Board of Trustees convened to discuss various topics including a road use agreement with Domtar, a fire pit MOU with the Rotary Club of Wausau, and adjustments to the refuse/recycling special charge for FY 2026. The board also acknowledged crossing guard hires and a direct seller's permit. Further discussions included operator's licenses, reports from board members and staff, and commission and committee reports. Additionally, there were updates on the water treatment plant construction, Lilac Avenue construction, and the SAFER District's budget and staffing.
The committee addressed a contract change order for Menton Lane reconstruction, focusing on cost-saving options such as modifying the design to maintain a paved walking shoulder on the west side, two driving lanes, and a gravel parking shoulder on the east side, while eliminating ditch work. A review of public access points was requested due to overgrowth and potential encroachments at the end of Teal Avenue. An update was provided on the Lilac Avenue project, including storm sewer installation and potential traffic adjustments. Additionally, a pending change order for water main work was discussed, involving relocating a hydrant and a stretch of water main due to stormwater basin construction.
The commission discussed and took action on a site plan for a communication tower, and proposed amendments to Floodplain Overlay Zoning. They also discussed and made recommendations on a General Development Plan in the Rib Mountain Center zoning district. Additionally, there were community development department reports and updates from commissioners.
The Village Board of Trustees is holding a special meeting to discuss the FY 2026 budget. The discussion will cover FY 2026 budget requests and worksheets.
