The meeting included recognition of Veterans Memorial Middle School Lady Generals and East Side High School Lady Eagles championship girls softball teams. There was also a public participation segment, where a community member raised concerns about taxes on seniors and announced a scholarship for his 65th birthday, and another community member spoke about funding for students with disabilities and transportation issues.

The meeting included recognition of students for achievements in Braille, writing, music, and robotics. There was a discussion about the approval of the agenda and minutes, as well as curriculum reports and enrollment figures. New business included revisions to policies, approval of student handbooks, and a contract for an integrated business solution within the transportation department. Additionally, there was discussion regarding a contract for plumbing renovations at East Newton Elementary School.

The meeting included special recognitions for outstanding students who achieved accomplishments at the Griffin Risa Regional Science Fair. The Board of Education members were thanked and recognized for their dedication and vision during Georgia School Board Appreciation Week. The board also discussed the prom season, a prom for students with special needs, and the Family Fun Day organized by the Newton County commissioners.

The meeting included recognition of students for their achievements, including state recognition in the Duke TIP program. The Newton Education Foundation was thanked for their support, particularly in reading, robotics, and technical reading and writing. The board discussed and presented the Department of Education's comprehensive needs assessment and Georgia's framework for continuous improvement, focusing on interventions and supports for schools, students, teachers, parents, and the community.

Public participation included discussion of school taxes on seniors and concerns from teachers regarding incomplete directives and unclear expectations related to standard-based schools, data walls, configuration boards, and student workboards.
