The council conducted a budget work session to review fiscal requests from the EMS and Fire departments. The session also addressed challenges regarding staff retention, employee morale, and the status of ongoing strategic planning for fire services.

The council meeting addressed several proclamations, including the recognition of EMS Week and National Public Works Week, both designated for May 2026. Council members noted the arrival of new emergency response equipment, including fire trucks and an ambulance. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to a presentation and review of a 2024 housing study and needs analysis, which highlighted trends such as population decline, an aging demographic, and the need for more diverse housing options and zoning reform to address urban sprawl and affordability challenges.

The committee meeting focused on updates regarding the 2024-2025 Road Paving Program, including the status of various road completions and current contract updates. A request for additional funding of $75,000 for contract overruns on specific roads was presented. The agenda included discussions and votes on maintenance for several lanes, a $20,000 allocation to update the County Priority Points Book, and a report on the current mileage of county-maintained roads. The committee discussed the review of local accommodations and hospitality tax grant applications. A formal motion was passed to fully fund the grant application submitted by Pig on the Ridge in the amount of $16,100.

The council held a budget workshop session to review funding requests from various outside agencies, including the health department, the board of disabilities and special needs, and the mental health center. Discussion focused on the mission, service provision, total staffing supported by county funds, and justifications for requested budget increases for the upcoming fiscal period.
