The General Assembly convened to address key issues such as internal improvements, particularly the construction of roads and railroads. The Alabama Department of Archives and History's FY 2021 Strategic Framework outlines key objectives and priorities across seven areas: collections management (acquisition, cataloging, preservation, and access); public outreach and education; support for state and local agencies; development; administrative operations; and staff development. Specific goals include enhancing collections through targeted acquisitions, improving preservation methods, expanding digital access, strengthening educational programs, providing records management assistance to state and local entities, and improving internal operations. The plan emphasizes a commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion, and aims to increase public awareness and understanding of Alabama history.
