The board held interviews for seven candidates for a vacant board position. Following candidate deliberations and discussions, the board conducted several rounds of nominations and voting, ultimately resulting in the appointment of John Bull to fill the board member vacancy for the term ending December 31, 2026.

The Board of Education meeting included several recognitions, including a School Resource Officer, updates on the High School's Unified Basketball Team, and a presentation on an upcoming suicide prevention walk. Personnel actions were addressed, including resignations, retirements, and the hiring of various staff positions such as a football coach, teachers, and a counselor. The Board received informational updates regarding district finances and student data. Furthermore, the Board approved the ORS Salary Schedule for non-union administrative and exempt employees and authorized technology bond bid approvals. A closed session was held for attorney-client privileged communication before the meeting adjourned.

The board meeting included student recognition for early graduation and presentations regarding an elementary school outdoor play club and potential solar energy savings. The board reviewed personnel updates, including various resignations and the hiring of several coaches and a facilities manager. Financial actions included a budget update and the approval of amendments to the Food Service and General Fund budgets. A motion regarding the nonrenewal of the transportation director's contract failed to pass.

The Board of Education convened for a special meeting to conduct a student discipline hearing. Following the hearing, the Board held a closed session and subsequently returned to open session to issue a decision regarding the expulsion of a student from the district through the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year.

The special meeting agenda was approved. There were no public comments on items not on the agenda. The Board moved into and returned from a closed session for the purpose of conducting a student discipline hearing. The primary decision rendered was the expulsion of student 052A from Newaygo Public Schools through the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year. The meeting was subsequently adjourned.
