The meeting involved recognizing the Student and Staff of the Month with certificates and gifts. The board adopted policy EBBC and revised proposed board policy JCDAF for preview. The IC Board Resolution for the Five Year Local Facility Plan and the ESE Mental Health MOU were approved. Presentations were given on co-teaching, special education initiatives, and the District/School Improvement Plans. The board also approved paying the bills.

The board approved the D&M Service Co bid for the MS/HS lunchroom air conditioning units, the Big Wave/Net2Phone renewal pricing, and adopted policy JCDAG. The board also previewed polices EBBC and JCDFAF, and voted for a resolution for temporary property tax relief for eligible standing timber in Irwin County. PLs vs PLCs was presented, and GMAS Scores were presented by each principal.

The Irwin County Board of Education meeting addressed several key items, including the adoption of Board Policy GARH & JRB, a preview of newly proposed or revised Board Policy JCDAG, and the approval of the FY26 FFA Program of Work/Calendar of Activities. Handbook changes for all schools regarding attendance were approved, and Rush International was selected for a new lift bus. Perry Weather was approved for Weather Station/Alerts. Additionally, there were new personnel hires and resignations. The meeting concluded with a motion to pay the bills.

The strategic plan for Irwin County School System focuses on graduating students prepared for college, careers, and life by improving student content mastery and closing achievement gaps. It aims to enhance instruction through professional learning, data-driven action plans, and mentoring for teachers. The plan also prioritizes improving system and school culture by enhancing support for Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS), improving attendance, and addressing the well-being of students and staff. Additionally, it focuses on maintaining safe schools, classrooms, and facilities by enhancing communication, increasing security, and improving operational processes, while also ensuring a secure digital environment through digital citizenship instruction and cyber security measures.

The Irwin County Elementary School Improvement Plan for 2025-2026 focuses on improving student content mastery and closing achievement gaps across all areas. Key strategies include implementing effective instruction, providing professional development for teachers and administrators, enhancing parent engagement, incorporating writing across all content areas, utilizing tiered interventions, and creating a data-driven action plan. The plan aims to foster student-centered learning environments, innovative teaching strategies, and support for academic deficits, while also promoting co-teaching and providing instructional support.
