Board meetings and strategic plans from John Linhardt's organization
The Strategic Plan for The Town of Halton Hills outlines the long-term direction from 2023 to 2026, focusing on four key strategic priorities: Thriving Economy, Natural Areas & Heritage, Infrastructure & Asset Management, and Safe & Welcoming Communities. The plan aims to foster a higher quality of life for residents by ensuring a desirable place to live, work, and invest, while maintaining its growing, nature-rich community feel where all people feel welcomed, safe, and connected.
The Council Workshop was convened to address planning matters. The proceedings included a Closed Session dedicated to the discussion of these specific planning issues, followed by a reconvening into Open Session and subsequent adjournment.
The committee welcomed the new Heritage Planning Assistant and addressed several heritage planning matters. Key discussions included a recommendation to Council for the designation of the property at 65 Maple Avenue in Georgetown and the granting of a deferral request for 49 & 51 Main Street North. The committee also supported the removal of 11 & 13 John Street North from the Heritage Register. Additionally, members prioritized ten properties in Norval for research and evaluation in early 2027 and reviewed a demolition application for 10616 5 Side Road, for which staff requested further evidence.
The committee discussed and recommended the designation of two properties under the Ontario Heritage Act. The first was 67 Main Street South in Georgetown, which meets criteria for its late nineteenth-century vernacular commercial architecture and historical associations. The second was 23 Stewarttown Road, recognized for its vernacular cottage style with Georgian influences dating to the 1850s and its historical connection to the local tannery industry.
The workshop centered on a presentation and discussion regarding the Green Infrastructure Asset Management Plan.
