This document outlines the "Portrait of a Graduate" for Tobet County Public Schools, focusing on developing well-rounded individuals prepared for college, careers, and life. Key attributes emphasized include critical thinking, responsibility, kindness and respect, adaptability, teamwork, empowerment, and lifelong learning. This initiative is presented as an essential component of the district's new strategic plan, aligned by 2029.
The Board of Education held their February meeting this week. The work session included a presentation about strategies to improve student writing. Also during the meeting, the Maryland comprehensive Assessment program or MCAT results were presented, and a first reader of the revised dress code policy was presented. An updated version of the 2324 school calendar and the update on the Leeds Grant were presented, as well as an update on the submission of the Maryland blueprint.
The board celebrated career and technical programs and welcomed the new Certified Nursing Assistant program instructor. They reviewed the curriculum for the next school year, discussed bill 1300 related to education incorporated into the budget, and sought input for the new superintendent of the schools.
The board decided to waive midterms and final exams for the year. There was a change to the school calendar, moving the transition day from February 1st to January 29th.
