The board meeting featured the presentation of the Leading Learning Award to staff members. Key actions taken included the approval of various procurements such as classroom and office furniture for KEC Oakleigh, a forklift for the facilities department, and engineering services for replacement chillers. Additionally, the board approved a three-year landscaping service agreement, the distribution of Special Education Act 18 funds, April budget amendments, and construction management and renovation plans for Empower U facilities. Public comments were received regarding programming at the Howard Christensen Nature Center, and updates were provided on the Kent Intermediate Association of School Boards meeting and the superintendent's annual evaluation.

The board convened in a closed session for the purpose of completing the school year evaluation of the Superintendent.

The meeting included the presentation of learning awards, an update on district cybersecurity, and approval of various action items including KIEA KCTC stipends and the final payment of Act 18 Special Education Funds. The board also approved the publication of a notice for a public budget hearing, amendments to the 2023-2024 budgets, and a three-year contract for the new superintendent.
