The regular Commission meeting included a unanimous approval to reschedule the January Commission meetings and work session to January 20th. Key new business items involved unanimous approvals for the EMS agreement with the City of Abbeville, the purchase of three Bush-Wacker batwing mowers for the Road Department, and permission to sell surplus equipment at Deanco Auction in January 2026. Additionally, the Commission approved a temporary job duty assignment change for Sherry Earle. Staff reports were provided, and Commissioners exchanged holiday greetings.

The Henry County Commission meeting included discussions and actions on several key items. The commission approved publishing the annual financial report, proclaimed November as National Adoption Month, and approved a resolution to protect Henry County's interests in the SSUT litigation. They also re-appointed members to the Henry County Health Care Authority Board and scheduled a work session for January 27th. Additionally, the commission set license fees for new ABC license types, sought financial proposals for financing dump trucks, appointed a member to the Henry County Dept. of Human Resources Board, and granted permission to convert the Sayla building into a Law Enforcement Training Facility.

Additionally, the Poplar Head subdivision was approved, and the road building materials FY26 bid was awarded. An updated maintenance agreement for Thomas Mill Creek Public Boat Ramp with the State of Alabama was approved, while a request to convert the Sayla building into a Law Enforcement Training Facility was tabled.

The Henry County Commission meeting included discussions and actions on several key items. These included submitting a grant application for a Hazard Mitigation Plan, reviewing the holiday schedule for July 4th and setting it for Monday, July 7th, and seeking permission to take bids on the CR 93 Gulley Repair Project pending FHWA approval. The commission also discussed applying for a CDBG Street Paving Grant for County Road 14 west of Newville and scheduling a special called meeting on July 17th to award bids for resurfacing projects. Additionally, commissioners shared positive remarks about county employees and their hard work.

The Henry County Commission addressed several key areas. Official holidays were approved, the FY25 amended budget and FY26 budget (including a 2% COLA increase) were approved, and the pay scale was updated to reflect the COLA and align step 1 salaries. An employment contract with the IT manager and an IT Services agreement with the Henry County 911 Board were approved. The commission decided not to participate in the 2026 Severe Weather Preparedness Tax Holiday. Dawn Shirley was appointed to the IAC council, and a resolution was approved to encourage the Alabama Legislature to oppose changes disrupting the SSUT program. Agreements included an EMS agreement with the City of Abbeville, procedures for accepting Public Record Requests, and the appointment of Matt Hatcher to the Henry County 911 Board. The Sheriff's department and Commission were approved to prepare an animal control policy, and the 2025/2026 contract with the Alabama Dept. of Youth Services was approved. Chad Granberry was approved as the Henry County Floodplain Administrator, and change orders from JMR + H for the Henry County Jail were approved.
