The committee reviewed a recent safety incident, identified trends, and discussed corrective actions. Updates to safety plans according to Ed Code 32282 were addressed, specifically regarding an Asynchronous Learning Plan, an update to the 7th-grade puberty education curriculum (BP 6142.1), and the need to add a specific Overdose Response procedure to the Safety Plan. The agenda also included a discussion regarding the plan and next steps for a future Lockdown/Active Shooter Drill, and updates on 'The Drug Store Project,' including expansion of Red Ribbon Week and a planned visit to a similar project in Atwater. Updates were provided on the streamlined volunteer background check processes (Tier 1 and Tier 2). A School Drill Report and Safety Incidents review included analysis of drills and planned corrective actions. A KSL Training Initiative was scheduled for January 2026, covering reunification drills and policy review. The Raptor visitor management system update highlighted enhanced screening capabilities. Wellness discussions focused on the Cafeteria Update regarding a 'Farm to Table' initiative using local produce, a Partnership with MCOE for a Garden Cleanup and Planting Program, and planning for a new Color Run event to promote physical activity. Policy updates included modernizing the Discrimination Policy language and reviewing updates related to AB 329 and the parental opt-out process for health education.

The District's Governing Board will hold a Public Hearing to allow any interested party to make an oral or written presentation regarding Adequate Textbook & Instructional Materials.
