The Rabun County School System (RCSS) developed its original strategic plan in the spring of 2022 as a five-year plan. The strategic plan was formally reevaluated and redeveloped in the spring of 2025 during a focus group meeting with district and school leadership. The district strategic plan goals are used as an outline/agenda for each meeting. This Parent and Family Engagement Plan for Rabun County Schools outlines the district's commitment to strengthening student academic achievement through comprehensive family involvement. Developed jointly with parents and family members as required by Title I, Part A and ESSA, the plan focuses on fostering regular, two-way communication and ensuring parents are integral partners in their child's education. Key areas include joint development of the plan, technical assistance, annual Title I meetings, effective communications, reservation of funds, annual evaluation, building capacity of school staff, and building capacity of parents, all coordinated to support student success.
The Rabun County Board of Education convened to address various key areas, including recognizing Young Georgia Authors and hearing principals' reports. The board reviewed financial reports for March 2025, covering revenues, expenditures, sales tax collections, and school nutrition. A 5-year facilities plan resolution was approved. The Superintendent presented the first reading of revisions to several board policies, including those related to emergency closings, goals and objectives, wellness, personnel recruitment, overtime pay, awarding units, nonresident students, student code of conduct, hearing procedures, and parental involvement. The FY26 budget was also presented. After an executive session, the board approved personnel actions, including retirements, resignations, and elections.
