The commission also reviewed and deliberated on numerous civil penalty appeals related to FCPA compliance. Finally, an executive session was held to discuss several cases, resulting in various determinations regarding violations of the Alabama Ethics Act and administrative penalties for identified minor violations.

The commission meeting included the consideration of four advisory opinions regarding ethics compliance. Discussions focused on the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners' contracting and leasing practices with a non-profit association, the hiring of a family member of a public official by a separate municipal department, the allocation of discretionary funds by a city council member to a homeowners association, and the establishment of a private business by an IT specialist employed by a state department of transportation. Each opinion was reviewed and subsequently approved by the commission.

Following an executive session, the Commission determined cause to hold minor violations of the Ethics Act for several individuals (Ronny Shumate, Teresa Miller, Michele King, Stephen Bryson, Samantha Bryson, Douglas Fuller, James Oakley, Verrick Taylor) and referred these cases for administrative handling or legal action. Several other cases were recommended for dismissal. The Commission also approved an administrative penalty for Stephen Meldrim related to a prior violation. Finally, adjustments were approved for the definition of "de minimis" amounts and the base-pay threshold for filing Statement of Economic Interest Forms, and the Executive Director was granted a 2% salary increase.
